Liberty County produces diversified crops including rice, sorghum, soybeans, corn, grains, fruits and vegetables. Beef cattle, sheep, poultry, hogs, and goats are raised, and honey is produced commercially. Natural resources include timber, oil, natural gas, lignite, sulfur, iron ore, lime, salt, brick clay, and glass sand. Manufacturing facilities include chemicals and machinery.

The Liberty-Dayton area offers a relaxed quality of life in a small-town setting, coupled with easy access to the major business and entertainment districts of Beaumont to the east and Houston to the west. Just north of the Liberty-Dayton area visitors can explore the towering forests and abundant wildlife of the Big Thicket, and to our south, enjoy the beaches and waterways of the Gulf of Mexico. Our location affords residents and guests a variety of choices in leisure activities, commerce and opportunities for higher education.
