The Grand Parkway, also known as SH 99, is a 184-mile highway circling the greater Houston area. It is composed of eleven segments passing through seven counties, and is being completed in phases (some of which are now open). Sections H and I-2 of the project will traverse along the western portion of Liberty County, directly affecting the immediate Dayton, Liberty and surrounding areas.
The new highway system is intended to bring economic growth, as well as improved mobility and reduced congestion when traveling around the Houston metropolitan area.
